Ideas for new Tournaments

We could make a points system.

Each level of pokemon has a set level of points and there is a limit to the amount of points each team can have.

The points system could look like this:

Limit of 100 points.

Ubers: 40 points each.
Over Used: 20 points each.
Border Line: 15 points each.
Under Used: 10 points each.
Never Used: 0 points each.

With this set up you could have two Ubers (2 x 40 points [80 points]), an Over Used (1 x 20 points [20 points {100 points total}]) and three Never used pokemon (3 x 0 points [0 points {100 points total}]) obviously a team like this will be based around the Ubers and Over Used pokemon.



I can go in to more detail if you want me to.

The only problem with this set up is we need a tier list for the site (I used one from another site as the example).

that sounds like the best idea in a while, if you could get me some more info on the lists, points, etc, then i'll make up the brackets and sign-ups, etc.

I think i have a couple ideas for the future tournaments, but lets see how well this one can take off, it should close the gap a little and personally, i want to see some of the uber users here function with non-ubers.......fun stuff ^_^

the only forseeable problem i can see is that we're going to bombarded with ninjask/garchomp/insert overused non-uber here if 20 points is the point value for overused.

(thats the tier stuff you were talking about anyway, right?)

I think that's a fairly current tier list, we could go by it, if not we could try this one: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_tiers

There could also be a rule that each competitor can only use a pokemon a limited amount of times (based on their tier level) per tournament (ie you can only use Groudon[Uber] once in the tournament, Garchomp [OU] in two matches, 3 for BL, 4 for UU and unlimited for NU) this way everyone will have to think strategically for each match (if we do this we could give a week between rounds so everyone can prepare a new strategy for each match).

for some reason, the serebii one times out on my comp, but the bulbapedia one looks fine. If we can get people to understand the rules of the tournament, it sounds good

the only problem i can see is the interest factor---if we're going to give people a week in between matches, we could have ourselves a month-long tournament, and I dont know if we could get enough people to commit for that length of time.

until now, all of the tournaments, have lasted 1-2 weeks at most, so this would be a change, but I kind of think that we could get by with two rounds, then a week's break, then the final two rounds the following week.

lets have a hacked pokemon tourney, just for fun, lets see who's the best hacker, i won't participate cuz i can't hack

that wont work, all we'll see are lv 100 spiritombs with 999 stats and wonderguard

ok, no repeated pokemon and no wonder guard, those will be the only rules(or at least the ones i've thought about) oh and no spiritomb, no sableye

then you'll still have the problem with the stat stuff -__-

trust me, there need to be rules against hacking in tournaments

that's what makes this tourney fun and unique, and all pokemon will be hacked, if ur party's not hacked then u can't enter but oh well.

a similar thing would be giving everyone 6 identical pokemon [same stats, moves, etc.] and seeing who can do the best with what they have. haha, idk if we should actually do this but its similar to what jkyl was saying, i think.

blaze, i'd suggest not battling anyone (other than me) with your gym leader team. you should save that team for just challengers.

I have another idea.

We have a doubles tournament, one person on each team will have six pokemon and the other will have one, the players with six pokemon will play normally, however the players who are using one pokemon are for support only (support players can use Sunny-day, Reflect, Light Screen, Sandstorm, Rain-dance, Helping Hand, Recover etc but not Tackle, Thunderwave, Toxic, Leer, Screech etc).

Two or three pokemon could be used by the support players, however the more pokemon the support player uses the more it drives away from the point of this idea (basically a secondary pokemon who helps the entire other player's team, also with only four moves and one ability each team will need to put in a lot of team work to make an effective strategy).

Since the Support-Players can't attack you don't have to beat their pokemon to win, you only have to beat the Main-Player's pokemon.

An effective team could be

(Support-Player)
Espion @ Bright-Powder
Reflect.
Morning-Sun.
Sunny-Day.
Light-Screen.

(Main-Player)
Fire + Grass/ Solar-Beam based pokemon.

idk about this one. i'm more into variations of traditional tournaments. like being able to use ur normal team that ur used to. thats just me though.

Something probably already done have a multiple type tourneys.It could be entitled"Elemental tourny".The rules are simple.Use your sites rules.During lets say the beginning of the tourny you give each pair of opponents an element that they have to use i.e water.During that match they can only use water.The person who wins and moves on for his next match can only use another designated element, ex. if its fire he can only use fire.Since it would be trouble some having to train 6 of whatever type it is you'll need, maybe they can only use three pkmn in each battle.For the final round they can choose any element/type of his/her choice.

i just had a great idea! how bout a holloween tourney in which u only use ghost or dark type pkmn what do u guys think?

it should be ice and grass ; u know for the snow and christmas trees
