Re: Mega Forms
These forms actually look pretty cool. Lucario gets Adaptability, thus making Close Combat a 240 base power move and Bullet Punch an 80 base power move. Hell, an Agility set would work as well with Aura Sphere becoming 180 and Flash Cannon becoming 160. Ampharos, based off of a sheep, being an Electric/Dragon is really silly, but sure, why not. Mawile with Huge Power is iffy with me. Cladstn and I don't really know what to make of it, but since it gains Defense and Sp. Defense stats when it changes, it could be good. Absol with Magic Bounce is going to be either BL or UU. With Magic Bounce, it's not going to need to Substitute to do Sucker Punch.
I was thinking that maybe the Pokemon would have to hold the items in order to Digivol- I mean, MegaEvolve, but Idk really.

Are these evolutions solely for one battle or are they permanent?

They are for the battle only. Holding their specific mega item transforms them for the period of battle and after the battle concludes they turn back into the plain ol' pokemon we're used to.Latios wrote:Are these evolutions solely for one battle or are they permanent?

Re: Mega Forms
Ah, I see. That makes sense. Having the Pokemon hold a Mega Stone seems like a good idea, though Mega Lucario will still be powerful without a Life Orb.

Does the Pokemon need to be in its final evolution to use a mega-form?

I think so, unless there's a Combusken or Torchic mega evolution.

- Spoiler:
According to this image, you have the option to turn into Mega Form when choosing moves during a battle. Whether or not it takes up a turn is currently unknown, but there are tweets coming from @BulbaNewsNOW at the moment.

Re: Mega Forms
PokeBeach said it didn't take up a turn, so it's not as strategic as I hoped but still pretty good. you still have to be aware of committing to a mega evolution and saying I no longer need this pokemon in his regular form. But the Mega Evolutions might just be flat-out better and might take no real consideration in the long run except when you get a type change.

Re: Mega Forms
With this info, I have 2 or 3 more questions.
Will the Mega Form have a turn limit (1 turn, 2 turns, etc)?
Will the Pokemon revert to its normal form after being switched out?
If it turns back from one of the above, then can it change into its Mega Form multiple times in a single battle?

Re: Mega Forms
They have said you revert to normal at the end of the battle (From Bulbapedia: "Mega Evolution can only occur in battle and disappears after the battle is over.") But that's all we know about them changing back they haven't said anything about mega forms having a limit or if we have any other way of reverting back to a normal form before the end of the battle. So maybe, maybe not.

Re: Mega Forms
So Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise have been revealed to have their very own Mega Evolutions.
Venusaur gets Thick Fat, which is pretty good considering that Venusaur has four weaknesses with Ice- and Fire-type being one. Slap that on Venusaur, and he now gets two weaknesses: Flying and Psychic, both of which aren't too common in OU. With increased Defense and Sp. Defense, Venusaur seems like a perfect candidate for a SubLeech set.
Charizard gets one of the best abilities after it mega evolves: Drought. Give this beast Choice Scarf, mega evolve as you hit Fire Blast, and watch as you burn everything to the ground with a 270 base power Fire move. It also gets an increase in Sp. Attack, leaving it to be just awesome.
Blastoise definitely has the coolest look to him. One huge artillery cannon on its back with two cannons on its wrist gives it a classic Blastoise touch to him. Although, its ability is pretty disappointing. It only increases power of pulse moves, like Dark Pulse and Water Pulse. Hopefully, it'll just increase moves that works with its cannon, like Hydro Pump, Ice Beam, Water Spout, and Mud Bomb.

Re: Mega Forms
Charizard got another Mega evolution, Mega Charizard X. That gets Tough Claws boosts physical damage and now retyped as Fire / Dragon. Sounds alright but Mega Charizard Y sounds equally appealing to me.
Also I think 6 leaked Mega evolutions now. 3 seen in mega form and 3 other mega stones found.
You could probably look it up if you want to know.
No Gliscor yet, so pretty depressing. However no Arcanine either so Blaze hasn't beat me yet.

Re: Mega Forms
Belly Drum Charizard might be actually used more with its mega evolution in X form, but I like the Y version better. But I'm not giving up my hope of Gliscor and Arcanine getting a mega evolution!

Re: Mega Forms
Who knows, that's still a lot of HP to drop. Belly Drum over all just isn't great, also to weaken your only Mega like that it's almost as good as dead.
Neither am I, I saw different sources saying Gliscor and Arcanine would get them but they're just rumors nothing confirmed. Also they might be events, so who knows if we'll see them anytime soon. Since we can't just dump the rom information, they might be able to keep this stuff hidden from us for a long time.

Re: Mega Forms
True, BellyZard hasn't been used in a long time anyway; however, Dragon Dance, Swords Dance, and Hone Claws may be more useful now that Mega Charizard X seems to be more Physical. Unfortunately, it can't use Acrobatics unless a Mega Stone is "used up", like how in WiFi battles they give you back the Sitrus Berry you consumed.
But like you said, it may take us a long time to fully know everything within the game, which is both good and bad. Going in blind is much more fun for me for in-game, but knowing how much the competitive game is impacted because key moves, Pokemon, abilities, and what-not is something I want to know ASAP.

Re: Mega Forms
No, Mega Stones aren't used. It's just a hold item if you have it you can mega evolve. Yeah Mega Charizard X has a lot of potential to be really good, removed the 50% SR weakness, improved physical attack and a nice ability. It also could get a lot of other good moves or some other moves that I'll mention in spoilers.
- Also Mega Charizard X gets boosts in Attack, Sp. Attack and Defense. Both Attack and Defense get 40+ % boost and Sp. Attack gets a 18% boost.
Yeah it's good to know but it'll be just like Pokemon Platinum or Pokemon B2W2 with the new formes. Plus most of the leaks are about new Pokemon, new moves and Mega evolutions. All the important stuff for the ingame at least to me, like the story, the gyms the cities haven't been really posted or talked about.
- Spoiler:
Dual Type moves like Flying Press both Flying and Fighting.

That's good. He should keep that a secret, but that's my opinion.

- If Flying Press is both Flying and Fighting, would Honedge just be resistant to it or immune?

Re: Mega Forms
I think some are, other aren't saying stuff about the story or whatever. Some just are looking for Pokemon it seems.
Also today barely anything new like 3 new pokemon and we confirmed 1 new mega but we haven't seen it. We got like 4 megas confirmed but not seen. The wait right now sucks, I really want to play.
Spoilers on new moves.

- Spoiler:
Flying Press they didn't talk about it much, I saw one post that said against a rock type it was neutral damage. So the calculation is probably just one at a time. Flying (1/2) x Fighting (2) for x1 damage. And because Doublade equation would have a zero it would make sense for it to be immune 0 x 1/2 = 0. It's also listed as a Fighting type move but the description says it's Fighting Flying.

Looks like the other Mega Evolution is either physical or defence based.
