Knowledge vs Battle Experience

Who would win in a competitive battle?

Someone who knows all possible stat matchups and how to accurately use his pokes

or someone who has battle experience and knows how his opponent will react to his pokes?

IMO knowledge is more important than experience, because if you don't know what your are doing (or you have 6 sweepers) no amount of prediction will let you win.


However, if you don't have both, you'll usually get owned (ie I have knowledge, but low experience, so I usually lose).

I was thinking of two specific people at the beginning of their competitive battling careers when I made this post, I'll reveal who they are when the poll is completed.

You can't have one without the other. However, by battling you gain knowledge, so battle experience pwns.

Battling alone won't teach you about EVs and will take a long time for you to
learn each pokemon's Egg moves.

All right, it looks like this poll is more or less finished. The two battlers I was thinking of when i created this poll are two of the most decorated in site history. The battler who is the epitome of battle experience, with almost 400 battles under his belt is wolf. He builds his team off experience, and dominiates battles due to the wealth of experience he has accumulated and his abilty to adjust to any strategy. The second battler (and the winner of this poll) would be jaysonius. He invented straegies for all tiers that no one would think of, he stayed one step ahead of the competition by constantly adjusting his team and creating new strategies instead of adjusting to old ones.

It's ironic that the downfall of both these battlers would be the most overlooked and downplayed "skill" of them all. Luck.

i would say knoledge is more important because if you had no knoledge how could you win tournaments?

i agree, i prefer knowledge, though battle experience is very important cause when u battle a lot of battle u get to know a lot of strategies, that can be helpful either to know how to counter them or how to build new ones.

I really don't see what knowing Egg Moves has to do with battling(besides the breeding that leads up to it). Even then you don't really need to memorize them. You only need to know their standard movesets.

i say battle experience because well if u had lots of battle and experience u should b able to kno lots of stragedies and the battle should b simple
