Battle Rules
The battle rules of this site are completely ridiculous. I think that opponents should be able to come to an agreement on the rules for thier specific battle, not be forced to battle by a one set of idiotic rules. I mean the Item Clause, or No Same Items in newbie terms is completely stupid and uneeded, it restricts the constructions of teams way too heavily. I'd consider joining this site if it had more acceptable rules, but for now, forget it.

Re: Guest talk
those are standard battling clauses. It is in place to keep out all choice/focus sash teams specifically. And read a little more carefully, those battle rules only apply to site-run tournaments

Oh, guess I didn't read it clearly on the part about tournaments, but that really doesn't make it any better, it really messes up tournament play, and restricts the building of a team for a tournament. Those aren't the standard rules anyway. The standard rules as stated by Smogon, Marriland, and Serebii forums(the 3 most reputable Pokemon battling/trading sites):
Evasion clause -You
and your opponent can not use evasion increasing moves like double team
and minimize. This clause also includes Accuracy reducing moves as
well, but usually are not specified.
Legit/legal clause - None
of the pokemon can have illegal movesets, 999 in all stats, 255 EVs in
all stats, or have been caught in places that they normally wouldn't
have been caught at. An example of an illegal moveset would be would be
a Magnezone with Flamethrower or Salamance with Ice Beam.
OHKO clause - You
and your opponent can not use moves that causes instant one-hit
knockouts. Some examples would be sheer cold, fissure, and guillotine.
Sleep clause - Only
one pokemon can be to sleep (on your side of the field) at a time. The
only time your opponent can use another sleep move is when your pokemon
either wakes up or faints, then your opponent can use a sleep move
again. The move Rest does not count toward sleep clause, so if your
opponent were to put a Pokemon asleep because of Rest, you can still
use a sleep inducing move on your opponent.
Species clause - You
and your opponent can not use more then one of the same pokemon. This
means that you or your opponent can not use two Infernapes or Garchomps
or two of the same pokemon in general.
Uber clause - You and your opponent can not use ubers in a battle.
Those are all of the standard rules.
Also, countering Focus Sashes should be easy. And Choice items aren't really a problem because they restrict your opponent to one move forcing them to switch whenever you send in a counter. Also, if you're looking to get rid of items that depend on luck, you should look at this clause:
Luck items Clause - You
and your oppnent can not use Items that rely on luck to be activated.
Some examples are focus band, bright powder, and quick claw.

and minimize. This clause also includes Accuracy reducing moves as
well, but usually are not specified.

Re: Guest talk
I hope you realize that this site is a work in progress =\ you can't compare us to smogon, serebii and marriland because honestly, we're not even close to being that big, let alone that popular. It seems odd to me that you would be so adamant about the items clause, because it really is a clause designed to even the playing field, in a way it's like the species clause. It forces you to expand your strategy instead of only keying in on one aspect of the game. Thank you for your input though, the staff will definitely keep it in consideration.

Re: Guest talk
I wasn't comparing you to them, I was just stating the rules that were established by them, and are the generally accepted rules for most battles. Sorry if I'm coming of as rude or something. Just because you're not as popular as them doesn't mean you shouldn't try to make all aspects of your site equal to or better than theirs(maybe even coming up with a better, unique rules set), and then one day maybe you'll surpass them. I think you should start with editing the rules though.
Ok, to be honest, the reason I don't like the Item Clause is because some people say it includes the item Leftovers, and some don't. Well, if you're one of those people who say Leftovers is included, then that puts stress on me and weakens my team building. Most teams have at least 2 walls, and what other item do you put on walls besides Leftovers? Black Sludge?, sorry but I don't want to be stuck using Weezing(the only useful poison type wall) in every Tournament. That's the main reason why I hate it, and why some people exempt that Item from the Item Clause.
Sorry for such a lengthy post.

Re: Guest talk
It's all right. Actually, that was something I forgot to put up in the rules, since most of our active members know that descrepency anyway. The only item we allow doops of is leftovers (2 max) for the exact reason you just mentioned. In fact, most items clauses I've seen allow dual lefties. It's become almost common now. I'll update the rules sometime tonight.
of course these rules only apply specifically to site-run tournaments, the only rule that is always present on-site is the legit clause for obvious reasons. All others are decided upon by the battlers (another thing i'll have to highlight in the rules <_<)
